The Lifting Platform
This unique lifting platform provides a stable and smooth transition between floors up to 2000mm.

The Sesame lifting platform, like the stairs, can be clad in whatever material the client requests from carpet to marble. We provide a base plate tray with a 3mm stainless steel trim enclosure which provides the floor layers, stonemasons etc. with a fixed area for cladding.
The lifting platform will be installed with Stainless Steel Tracks for the retracting stair wheels to roll on without marking the cladding. These tracks will remain hidden when the stairs are fully extended for pedestrian use. Examples of the stainless steel tracks and 3mm stainless steel trim can be found on our Sesame System Examples page.
Sesame Systems with a rise below 1000mm
For Sesame Systems with a rise below 1000mm we have designed and patented a lifting platform that conforms to British Standards & Part M of the Building Regulations by incorporating a unique "Wheel-Stop" to prevent wheelchair wheels moving outside the platform.

When a user is on the lifting platform and presses the lift up button, this solid Wheel-Stop rises a total of 100mm before the lift itself rises, therefore preventing the wheelchair from rolling off the platform.
Sesame Systems with a rise over 1000mm
For Sesame Systems with a rise over 1000mm we have developed a lifting platform that will enclose the user on all four sides, with side handrails and Gates or Rising Barriers in accordance to British Standards & Part M of the Building Regulations

When a user is on the lifting platform and presses the lift up button, the gate or rising barrier will close/rise to enclose the user along with the permanent handrails fixed to the lifting platform.
The Lifting Platform Controls
As standard, all buttons are "Press and Hold" to give the user complete control over the platform motion however the client may choose an alternative "One Press" option.
The standard control buttons are "Up" "Down" and "Emergency Stop"
We have five standard lifting platform control setups:-
- For 2 step Sesame Systems with a rise no more than 300mm we can embed one button station into the surrounding wall 1100mm from ground level. Therefore when the lift has risen the controls will be situated 800mm above the platform level. This range conforms to Part M of the Building Regulations. This option would permanently place on show one button station plate.
- For Sesame Systems with a rise up to 1000mm a permanent button post can be fixed on the platform lift. Again this would permanently place on show a button post.
- For a discrete alternative for Sesame Systems with a rise up to 1000mm, we can install a Rising Button Post. This button post automatically rises through the lifting platform when the stairs retract. Therefore, unlike option one, this control post remains hidden below the lifting platform when the stairs are in the extended pedestrian use position.
- For Sesame Systems with a rise above 1000mm the button station is designed into the handrail fixed to the lifting platform.
- The client may opt for a trained member of staff to control the platform from an alternative position. This option removes the opportunity for the users to independently entre and leave the building.
Sesame can incorporate the controls for the lifting platform to the clients requirements as long as they conform to the British Standards & Part M of the Building Regulations.
